In a surprising partnership that breaks usual expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Questline Disclosed

According to the official release, "A mysterious encounter pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where rumors of forbidden ceremonies and terrifying metamorphoses echo through the darkness." The storyline features a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who charges the pair with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a clandestine group.

The mission concentrates on "strange trials and a fearsome adversary" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Locations and Metamorphoses

The trailer features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser concludes with a powerful scene showing a character, likely the hostage, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Items and Additional Content

Players who accomplish the mission will receive an exclusive katana together with several artifacts secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

This release also brings the game's third complimentary story content, titled "A Puzzlement." Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime series. The series earlier showcased a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally featured a quest that obviously echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
