Former President Donald Trump has claimed that US forces targeted a "significant facility" in Venezuela in recent days. However, the ex-leader did not specify the exact nature or location of the strike, and officials have issued no additional comment from his team.
Vague Remarks Made In a Radio Interview
"US forces just eliminated – I'm not sure if you heard – they have a large facility, where the vessels originate. Two nights ago, we knocked that out. So we struck them with significant force," Trump reportedly informed Republican donor and businessman John Catsimatidis in a recent interview.
Possible Significance of a Verified Strike
Should a US strike were to be confirmed, it would constitute the first land strike since the US Department of Defense initiated a expansion of US military presence in the region to disrupt narco-trafficking operations that the Trump administration claims operate under the authority of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.
