Ten individuals found guilty of online harassment against Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has found guilty ten people for carrying out the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the partner of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.

The defendants faced allegations of spreading false claims regarding her gender and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing hurtful comments about the husband and wife's 24-year age gap.

The court handed down conditional custodial sentences of as much as eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has yet to be released.

A persistent conspiracy theory alleging that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has been in circulation since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.

This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons engaging in a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared analogous false narratives about the Brigitte Macron's gender.

Their legal filing states that Owens disregarded substantial counter-evidence contradicting her allegations choosing instead to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.

Owens has frequently reiterated these assertions on her podcast and online platforms, and in March 2024 declared that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her belief that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.

Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her future husband when she taught at his lycée.

The two tied the knot in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
